First Communion Celebrations
Our Second Grade friends had a very special week! On Saturday they made their First Communion on a gorgeous spring morning! During his homily Father Jim gathered the children around him and spoke about no matter what else was happening on May 5, Cinco de Mayo, the Kentucky Derby or even Comic Book Day, nothing was more special than receiving the Eucharist for the very first time. We know by the utter excitement and joy expressed by our students that he was right, and our children felt the same way! What a privilege it was to be a part of such an important day in the lives of our children. This very special class then had the opportunity to lead our entire school and parish during the liturgy on Ascension Thursday. We couldn't be prouder of their respect and reverence!
Teacher Appreciation Week was the perfect time to thank all of our Faculty and Staff for all they teach our children each day, both in word and by example. We are blessed to have 32 dedicated, faith-filled individuals sharing their vocation with our children and families at St. Madeleine Sophie School this year, and were gladly celebrated their service to us in a variety of ways, including a Spa Day Luncheon hosted by our generous Home and School Association on Friday.
One of my most favorite quotes by Margaret Mead, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever has!" Margaret could have been speaking about our St. Madeleine Sophie Parish and School community, as we work together to provide an invaluable Catholic education to our students we are surely changing the world one child at a time. Thank you, as always for being a part of the change here at SMS!
