Pre-K Music

Mr. Arthur

This is my first year being involved with programs at St. Madeleine Sophie School, starting as the substitute Teaching Assistant for Ms. Harrington’s Pre-K 3-year-old class for three months. I am continuing on staff as the teacher for the Music Program for thePre-K 3 and 4 year olds.

I am a former educator having worked in Special Education and administration. My training also included a concentration in music. I am a professional percussionist who plays with numerous groups across the Capital Region, including the Memorial Concert Band of Colonie, Music Company Orchestra, Union College Community Symphony, RedCaps Marching Band (co-manager) and Hudson Vally Professional Musicians. I bring to St. Madeleine Sophie School and the Pre-K Music Program, my training, experience, love of music and love of children. My goal in the Pre-K music program is to provide the children opportunities to learn tunes and coordinate their voices to sing those tunes; to listen to and experience a variety of music forms; to feel the pulse of the music and to be able to express that pulse; and to be able to respond to music in various movement activities.

I believe that providing opportunities to listen to and experience music will set the basis for young children to grow to be adults who can benefit from what music can offer. They may join choirs or play an instrument or simply be enriched by being able to share and enjoy music in their daily lives. Participating in this music program at St. Madeleine Sophie School will allow children to learn, have fun and develop and expand their enjoyment of music.
