About Art

In our art room, children will embark on a creative journey across every grade level.

Together, we will:

  • Explore a wide range of art tools and materials. We draw, paint, make prints, use found objects, sculpt with clay, and much more.
  • Experiment with diverse media: From traditional painting and clay to found-object sculpture, students get their hands on a wide range of tools.
  • Master the language of design: We build a foundation starting with simple lines and shapes, eventually mastering complex concepts like harmony and movement.
  • Think like critics: Students learn to interpret art by finding visual evidence, connecting what they see to their own lived experiences.
  • Connect with the world: We explore how art reflects history and culture, and how our current world inspires new ways of creating.
  • Build a creative community: By sharing ideas and practicing kind, constructive critique, students develop the social skills needed to support one another.
  • Embrace the process: We foster the courage to take risks. Here, mistakes are just part of the craft, and we always value progress over perfection.
  • Celebrate individuality: Above all, students learn to take pride in their unique growth and creative voice.
